Hello!

I want to remove an electric heater from my basement that is wired directly to the circuit breaker panel, and am not planning to replace it with anything else for now. The wire to the heater is loose along my basement wall, so my plan was:

1. Turn off power to circuit breaker panel!
2. Disconnect the wiring from the heater (after confirming the wire is dead)
3. Remove the circuit breaker from the panel and replace it with a blank/filler plate
4. Pull the wire out from the ceiling (unfinished basement)

In my research I found videos about how to disconnect an electric heater, but only from the wall and not from the breaker panel side. I also saw how to replace a circuit breaker on the panel. The example for how to remove one that I found only showed 2 wires, and mine has 3 (positive/negative/ground, I think).

My questions: what is the best way to find the wires that connect to the breaker from inside the panel? Once the wires are removed do I tighten the screws with no wire attached? What is the best practice for how to label the empty one on my circuit breaker panel inside cover?
