Long time lurker first time poster! Exterior door installed, didn’t think about painting the frame beforehand. Now I’m wondering how I can paint the frame without getting paint on this squishy air seal. Viewpoint is from inside the house looking at the frame (beige), with my finger pressing down the air seal, which seems to be held on by some aluminum paneling (gray). The only “evidence” I have of how its attached is caulking at the corners.

Is there a way I can do a nice job painting underneath the seal without removing the aluminum? If not, any ideas on how to remove the aluminum?
