Need help with pivot mechanism for mirror

Hello all,

I saw this post about a sliding mirror with a hidden medicine cabinet behind it a while back and it looked awesome! I would like to do the same thing with a round mirror. I found another blog post where they used a round mirror and that seemed to work well.

If my math is correct, I will have about 4.5” of overhang from the round part of the mirror to the medicine cabinet. I had an idea of that I can try to use some sort of hinge or pivot to make the mirror rotate once it reaches the end of the slide. It would not have to go very far, maybe 15°. That last little movement would make it so that there is no overhang. The tricky part now is to just find something to let the mirror rotate those last few degrees. I think it could be a cool project. Fortunately, the mirror doesn’t weigh very much so it won’t need to be very heavy duty.

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas about how I could make the mirror rotate? The thing that I really need help on is getting the mirror to pivot at the end. What kind of pivot or hinge could I use? Ideally it would be soft close. I’m thinking something like a lambo door. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
