Shared lead pipe under kitchen floor – Done something stupid
Right, so I live in a Victorian semi-detached house in the UK.
I both wanted to move my main water stopcock location as part of a kitchen layout change, and found out the main water pipe from the street was lead.
I hired contractors to lay a new plastic MDPE water pipe from a new location in my kitchen to the boundary of the property, and my water board connected MDPE to the street main.
Now, I have decorated my kitchen, tiled and made good, thinking I could just cut my branch down and terminate it just above the ground. I have since found out that I have to actually cut my lead branch all the way to the tee, which might be buried a foot or so under my kitchen concrete floor. The pipe going under my kitchen floor supplies my neighbours with water, and they do not want to replace their lead pipe water supply.
Is there any alternative way this can be done without undoing all the decoration work I did in the kitchen?
Thanks
