Victim named in 15th traffic-related fatality in Des Moines in 2024
DES MOINES, Iowa — On October 21 a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a parking lot at 2540 East Euclid Avenue; the Des Moines Police Department announced the woman who was hit has passed away.
According to police, 67-year-old Sheila Kay Albert, a Des Moines resident, died on October 25 after staying at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center.
Back on October 21, just before 3:00 p.m., Des Moines Police and Fire Departments responded to the parking lot to investigate a report of a crash with injury. First responders found Albert in crucial condition after being struck by a vehicle.
Police said that the vehicle involved was a 2009 Chevrolet pickup and was operated by a 35-year-old male. The accident is still under investigation by the Des Moines Police Department Traffic Unit, there are no charges filed yet.
This is the 15th traffic-related fatality crash of 2024.
