How to enjoy Des Moines’ annual Labor Day parade

DES MOINES – The annual Labor Day Parade will happen today in Des Moines at 11am. The parade will start at the intersection of 12th street and Grand Ave by the capitol and then continue along grand to the fair grounds.

Paula Martinez, the President of the South Central Iowa Federation of Labor, said that the parade is a chance to honor and celebrate the people who came before.

” this was a day to honor those people who have worked their blood, sweat and tears to make not only the city, the state, but the country function. And each and every year, of course, it becomes larger and larger. And so I just would like to stress that, you know, we’re doing this in the honor of those before us and hopefully to encourage the future generations to continue this.” Martinez said.
