Arrests made following Marshalltown chase
MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Two people are charged in connection with a pursuit in Marshalltown Thursday morning.
The Marshalltown Police Department said officers were responding to a domestic disturbance around 10:42 a.m. in the 100 block of S 16th St. and while on the way the caller said a male was chasing a woman and had left the scene.
The vehicle involved was found in the 200 block of S 12th St., occupied by two people, and when officers tried to stop it, the vehicle took off. After a short chase, the suspects abandoned the vehicle near the 400 block of Park St. and ran.
Officers and deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office used K9 teams to search the area and were able to locate both suspects and take them into custody without incident.
Lance Shaum, 34, is charged with eluding, possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s also charged with 14 counts of traffic violations including speeding, reckless driving, and failure to obey traffic control device.
Luis Gonzale-Cervantes, 47, is charged with interference with official acts.
Both men are from Marshalltown.
