2024 Iowa State Fair shatters attendance record
DES MOINES, Iowa — The 2024 Iowa State Fair will go down as the largest state fair ever.
According to fair officials, 1,182,682 people visited the fair in 2024, breaking the previous overall attendance record of 1,170,375 visitors set in 2019.
The overall attendance record wasn’t the only record that was broken this year. Below is a list of attendance records that were set this year:
- August 10, the first Saturday of the fair, broke the all-time single-day attendance record with 128,732 visitors. It was previously set in 2022 with 128,298 visitors. Saturday also broke the first Saturday of the fair attendance record that was previously set in 1991 with 127,227 attendees.
- On August 11 fairgoers broke the first Sunday attendance record with 115,048 people. That record was previously set in 2023 with 114,937 visitors.
- August 13 broke the Tuesday attendance record with 105,384 people. This record was previously set in 2019 with 102,953 people.
The 2025 Iowa State Fair is scheduled for August 7 to 17.
