Pedestrian killed in crash identified as Ankeny woman
DES MOINES, Iowa — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a pedestrian who died early Wednesday morning after she was struck by a pickup truck in north Des Moines.
The PCSO said 37-year-old Nyandiet Nathaniel Magang, of Ankeny, has been identified as the victim in the deadly accident. It happened in the 4300 block of NW 2nd Street just after 5:30 a.m.
Evidence and witness statements indicate Magang entered the travel portion of the road from the center line and was walking on the road when she was struck by a southbound Chevy Silverado in the inside lane. The PCSO said it was raining when the accident happened and the area is not well-lit.
Capt. Ryan Evans of the PCSO said the driver of the truck that struck Magang called 911 after the crash.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
