Police catch suspect in 2023 Des Moines shooting
DES MOINES, Iowa — A man wanted in a shooting that injured two people in the Capitol East neighborhood last summer has been arrested on multiple charges including attempted murder.
Trezjaun Calloway, 20, was booked into the Polk County Jail Thursday night on charges of attempted murder, first-degree burglary, going armed with intent, reckless use of a firearm, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
According to criminal complaints filed in the case, Calloway entered a residence in the 400 block of E. 14th Ct. around 4:15 a.m. on August 6, 2023, knowing a female and a male were inside. The complaint said he entered an upstairs bedroom and fired a .22 caliber handgun at least 11 times.
The complaint said a male victim was shot at least three times and a female victim was also shot in the chest.
Police said the shooting was a domestic-related incident.
Calloway is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for July 1st.
