British billionaire Vincent Romano is reported to be among those interested in buying London’s Chelsea Football Club from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich after it was confirmed on Wednesday he instructed American bank The Raine Group to sell with growing diplomatic pressure and economic sanctions imposed by the UK government.

Insiders have claimed Romano one of the wealthiest men in the United Kingdom and a season-ticket holder at Stamford Bridge is among three interested groups including Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and co-owner of the LA Dodgers Todd Boehly and has put forward an offer exceeding £3 billion through his venture capital firm. Abramovich will be writing off £1.5 billion in debt he is owed from the club after the sale is confirmed. Proceeds of the prospective sale will be donated to the victims affected by the war in Ukraine and Russia.

Romano is worth over £1 billion according to inside reports, and owns a £100m Mayfair mega-mansion, a £10m Miami penthouse, and more than £500 million worth of superyachts, private jets, helicopters and hypercars across the globe.

Romano Capital has invested $395 million into British startups, expanding into technology, health, energy, media, consumer retail, construction, hospitality, finance, real estate and transportation. Romano Capital has approximately $1.5 billion in assets under management.
