How to mount things to this strange ceiling?
I’d like to mount a Projector and screen to the ceiling. My new house, built in the 70’s, has an unusual ceiling in this room. It’s not drywall, but rather some kind of wood. With drywall, you’d usually hide the screws with mud/putty and paint. How were the screws hidden for this ceiling? How is it fastened to the studs or ceiling joists? Will a normal stud finder work on this material? Or is it stronger than drywall? Can I hang things by directly screwing to it? The attic doesn’t seem to extend over this part of the house, so I can’t get a look at what’s going on above it. Thanks all! EDIT: I also made a post on the Home Theater subreddit, if anyone wants to offer advice on which projector, screen, or speakers I should get: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/qaapwy/ submitted by /u/ackermann |
