DAVENPORT, IOWA — A jury of his peers has convicted Cristhian Bahena Rivera of First Degree Murder for the stabbing death of Mollie Tibbetts, finally bringing closure to a case that has filled Iowa and national headlines for three years.
The jury returned the unanimous verdict shortly after 1:00pm on Friday after the trial concluded on Thursday afternoon. Rivera will face an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
