Heads-up to job seekers via CL

by Anonymous

Be aware that if it seems unusually easy to get work, there’s likely a hidden zing. Job postings calling for applicants for worker registries (my field is education – nanny & sitter services often advertise there) sometimes take you through an entire “application” process, then request a membership fee at the very end. Customers / clients can and should pay such fees but no job seeker should have to. In education, it’s fine to request background checks, etc., but a reputable organization reimburses for those. During hard times, some employers take advantage of workers. Before submitting your credit card info, take a stroll through the site and see if you can view actual job postings – are there enough to make the fee worth it? Best wishes to all who are job hunting.
