Coronavirus state tracker: ICU occupancy declines 18.3% in the last 14 days

According to the California COVID-19 dashboard there are 5,561 patients hospitalized (confirmed and suspected) in California on Tuesday, Aug. 25. This is a decrease of 1,198 patients (17.7%) over the last 14 days.

The state is reporting that 31% of its ICU beds are available, 65% of its ventilators are available and ICUs occupancy has declined by 18.3% in the last 14 days.

The state had conducted 1,576,227 tests in the last 14 days with a 6.3% test positivity rate. There have been more than 10.7 million tests in the state since March.

Orange County and San Diego County were dropped from the state’s monitoring list as of Sunday. They are the only two counties in Southern California to attain that status.

All data on the state tracker is preliminary and subject to change.

The following counties are no longer on the County Monitoring List:

  • Amador as of 8/25/2020
  • Calaveras as of 8/21/2020
  • Mono as of 8/23/2020
  • Napa as of 8/21/2020
  • Orange as of 8/23/2020
  • Placer as of 8/19/2020
  • Santa Cruz as of 8/14/2020
  • San Diego as of 8/18/2020
  • Sierra as of 8/23/2020

Between Sunday and Monday, there were 43 fewer hospitalizations due to confirmed COVID-19 and nine fewer cases in intensive care units. These statistics do not include suspected cases in the state.
