Usually going to a beerfest means you’re just there to drink beer. But the Black is Beautiful festival lets you drink beer and help support Black lives, while raising funds to help fight Police brutality.

2020 keeps doing this trick, where it feels like time has no meaning, and everything is just suspended in place as a swirling vortex of bad news just spins and spins around you… and then you check a calendar and it’s almost the end of a month that feels like it just started five minutes ago. So hey: Welcome to August’s penultimate weekend! It’s one with a bevy of fun Things to Do, including drinking beer to make the world better at the Black is Beautiful beer festival; enjoying all the superhero madness in the DC Fandome,  getting in on a Culture Convention a lot closer to home, and more! And as our Editor-In-Chief likes to say: If you’re going to go out: Wash Ya Damn Hands, Wear Ya Damn Mask, hit the links below, and plan your week accordingly!

IN-PERSON EVENTS

Outdoor Skating at Oaks Park
The Rose City Rollers host multiple opportunities to get some fun in the sun on eight wheels, and if you don’t own those wheels already, the RCR’s Skatemobile has you covered with rental skates, helmets, and pads. And when they say you can skate at Oaks Park, they mean all over Oaks Park.
