Bell ringers needed around Des Moines for annual Red Kettle Fundraiser
DES MOINES, Iowa – Volunteer bell ringers are needed to fill shifts at all red kettle locations around the Metro and surrounding suburbs, according to the Salvation Army.
The kettles operate Monday through Saturday from 10a.m. to 8p.m. with the exception of Sundays and Thanksgiving, when there will be no ringing, and a shortened day on Christmas Eve. Those interested to volunteer can sign up to ring the bell at www.RegisterToRing.com.
The Salvation Army is a Christian-based organization that provides services to those in need. underserved and at risk. The red kettle campaign, which started in 1891, helps to fund services to 27-million people annually, according to the organization’s website.
Here’s the latest fundraising update as of 11/21/2024, according to a news release:
Des Moines metro and suburbs:
The Salvation Army Citadel Corps has raised $29,885, 17% of their Red Kettle fundraising goal of $176,500.
The Salvation Army Temple Corps has raised $31,772, 19% of their Red Kettle fundraising goal of $170,000.
The Salvation Army Capital Area Command, including those corps, has raised $266,924 or 22% of $1.2 M. goal.
Surrounding area:
Ames Corps Raised $11,572 of $61,287 kettle goal; and $28,617 or 23% of overall goal of $125,632.
Boone Kettles started Thursday, November 21.
Marshalltown Raised $7,902 of $55,000 kettle goal; and $21,598 or 11% of overall goal of $191,000.
Newton Raised $2,722 in kettles, or 6.33% of their kettle goal so far.
