Drake Women’s Basketball host charity exhibition game benefiting Greenfield tornado victims
DES MOINES, Iowa- The Drake Women’s Basketball team is tipping off their season Saturday afternoon with a charity exhibition game against the University of Nebraska Omaha.
All proceeds will be donated directly to the Greater Greenfield Community Fund and American Red Cross Nebraska-Iowa Region to help tornado victims. There will also be opportunities to donate directly to the Greater Greenfield Community Fun and American Red Cross Nebraska-Iowa Region in the arena.
Head Coach Allison Pohlman said it was important for her team to continue to raise awareness of the devastation that occurred last summer, as communities are continuing to pick up the pieces.
She said, “We’re Des Moines’ hometown team. So, having this sort of cause, being able to give back to people who, you know, really experienced devastation. So, being able to do this felt like a no brainer. And we’re just really excited to have those communities really feel the love coming straight from Drake today.”
The Bulldogs will take the Mavericks at 2 p.m. at the Knapp Center. Tickets can be purchased online. Use the code WBBRELIEF when checking out.
