DES MOINES, Iowa- The end of the Downtown Farmers’ Market is the unofficial end to summer in Downtown Des Moines.

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Court Avenue on Saturday to enjoy the final day of this season’s market. Around 275 vendors are showcased at the summer market.

RC Farm is one of the vendors at the market and they just completed their third year at the downtown summer market. They supply grass-fed beef and organic flour. Owner, Caleb Baker, said they had a successful market.

Humbl Roots is another vendor present at the market this season. They showcased one of their products called Carinara, which is a carrot-based pasta sauce.

Owner and creator, Jacque Burklund said she made her sauce without tomatoes, gluten, dairy, and nightshades.

This was their first year at the market and Burklund said they were able to gain enough exposure to land on the shelves in some Central Iowa stores.

Saltlickers completed their 10th season with the Downtown Farmers’ Market on Saturday. Owner, Jennifer Knox, said she was able to grow her company from her small apartment in Brooklyn, New York to Nevada, Iowa.

She now has around 30 different spices and herbs for people to try. The market-favorite this season is the Cy-Salt, named after the Iowa State Cyclones.

Since it was the last day of the market, organizers were celebrating Halloween. Market Manager Elizabeth Weyers said people were encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and vendors had bowls of candy to give to children.

While the Downtown Farmers’ Market is coming to an end, the Winter Farmers’ Market will take place next month at the Iowa Events Center.

Friday, Nov. 22: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  
Saturday, Nov. 23: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  
Sunday. Nov. 24: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
