Passengers in fatal Indiana plane crash identified as Iowa residents

ANDERSON, Indiana — The four Iowa passengers that took off from Fort Dodge and died in the Indiana fatal crash have been identified.

Around 9:50 a.m. County Dispatch received a 911 call of a plane down approximately two miles southeast of the Anderson Municipal Airport, around 4200 block East 100 South. Units arrived on scene and found a single engine airplane down and on fire, the fire was quickly extinguished.

Federal authorities, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board, the county coroner, and other additional resources were called to the scene.

It was quickly discerned that the flight had left from Fort Dodge, Iowa and was enroute to the Anderson Municipal Airport in Indiana, the plane then lost altitude and crashed for an undetermined reason.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office, assisted by the Hamelton and Delaware County Coroner’s office, have identified the four Iowa victims. Joseph R. Scallon, 68, from Iowa Falls, “Owen” James Renaud, 19, from Alden, Jesse H. Ostheimer, 41, from Alden, and Braden W. Hicks, 36, from Manson.

The crash is still under investigation.
