Veteran couple receives free roof as thank you for service
WOODWARD, Iowa — A married couple of veterans was gifted a free roof by Bryan Exteriors as thank you for their service and continuous community generosity this week.
US Army veteran Ron Woodard and National Guard veteran Mary Woodward have been fulfilling Christmas wish lists through the American Legion for the past 14 years. Friday, they got a gift of their own when they received a free roof through Bryan Exteriors.
The family’s roof was damaged in storms around two years ago and had recently started leaking. Don would normally replace the roof himself but after two knee replacements, he is unable to.
Ron and Mary are very appreciative of the gift and see it as a blessing. Now that they are not facing the financial stress of a new roof the couple can focus on their children’s education and other family needs.
Troy and Marc found out about the couple and their military service through an anonymous tip.
“We really enjoy it, me and my brother, we both like to give,” said Marc Bryan, co-owner of Bryan Exteriors. “It’s nice to be able to give to a couple that really needs a roof. Something more than just a gift card, something that’ll make a lasting impression.”
Ron and Mary don’t know who nominated them, but they are extremely grateful.
This is the first year that Bryan Exteriors has gifted a free roof, but Troy and Marc Bryan say it won’t be the last. They hope to continue giving to those who have given so much themselves.
