Packer’s Pine, which has been creating natural soap from pine tar since 1869, is proud to announce that it will help sponsor the 64th Lumberjack World Championships, which will run from August 1-3 in Hayward, Wisconsin at the Lumberjack Bowl.
The event hosts competitions in sawing, chopping, log rolling, speed climbing, boom-running, and more. Packer’s Pine will be sponsoring the 90-foot speed climb, during which athletes will ascend a cedar pole with only spurs and a steel-core climbing rope. Upon reaching the top of the pole, the athletes (“lumberjacks” and “lumberjills”) will rapidly descend, tapping their spurs on the pole to formalize their finish. There will be 21 competition events over the three days of the competition, with $50,000 in prize money.
“We love the way the annual championship honors the rich history of the lumberjack community and the great outdoors. It aligns with our values of tradition, craftsmanship, and respect for nature,” said David Zelken, Packer’s Pine President. “Besides that, it’s a whole lot of wholesome fun, and the athleticism of the participants is inspiring.”
Packer’s Pine was started by Daniel Packer, who discovered the therapeutic powers of pine tar during the California Gold Rush and returned to his native Connecticut to begin making pine tar bar soap in 1869. While other pine tar soap makers have joined the market, Packer’s Pine is the original version.
Packer’s Pine products are made in the USA and include pine tar bar soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Pine tar, which is created by carbonizing pine wood, has been used therapeutically throughout history for its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Not only does pine tar smell as fresh as a forest, it is a go-to for many customers for soothing dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, and dandruff.
Packer’s Pine soap has a history as a DEET-free mosquito repellent and was the insect repellent of choice for the Army Corps of Engineers in the lead-up to World War II. Packer’s Pine products are free of paraben, creosote, and sulfate and are cruelty free.
In addition to sponsoring the 90-foot speed climb, Packer’s Pine will exhibit its products at a booth. Packer’s Pine is not only known for its high-quality natural products but also for its charitable efforts to sustain and replenish North America’s forests by contributing to the National Forest Foundation and One Tree Planted.
