Des Moines stabbing was likely self-defense, police say
DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police are investigating a stabbing that critically injured a woman Sunday.
Officers responded to the 5500 block of Southeast 14th Street just after noon on a report of a stabbing. Sgt. Paul Parizek said an adult woman was transported to the hospital in critical condition and is stable. One person was initially taken into custody but has been released.
Sgt. Parizek said the preliminary investigation indicates the stabbing was the result of self-defense.
The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
