Driver killed in rollover crash in Polk County on Monday
POLK COUNTY, Iowa — One person was killed in a rollover crash in Polk County Monday morning.
Shortly after 10 a.m. the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash in the 6300 block of NE 46th Street. When first responders arrived on scene they found a white sedan on its top in the east ditch, the sheriff’s office said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the sedan was traveling southbound on NE 46th Street when it lost control, entered the east ditch, and then crashed into a tree. The sedan then rolled before it finally came to rest. The sheriff’s office said that evidence collected so far, including witness statements, indicate the sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, died from his injuries at the scene. His name has not been released.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
