Adventureland kicks off 50th season
ALTOONA, Iowa- Adventureland is kicking off its 50th season on Saturday.
The classic Underground ride was closed last year for renovations and is now reopened for the public to enjoy. Underground is the world’s only wooden indoor roller coaster.
Alex Payne, the public relations manager for Palace Entertainment, said that people can expect to see the same things they loved about the original Underground, but they amplified the experience using more effects.
A grand reopening took place outside of the Underground at 11am.
Also new to the park this year is a pork restaurant, Oinks. The stand will sell Iowa staples, like pork chops on a stick and a jumbo pork tenderloin.

With 5 decades of history, the theme park is honoring their past while stepping into the future. The Falling Star Lounge is opening up this year, and pays homage to the former Falling Star ride.
Outside of the new rides and eateries, Payne said there is plenty more to enjoy at Adventureland this season.
The Adventure Bay Waterpark will officially open next weekend.
Adventureland is open Saturday and Sunday from 11am-7pm, and Monday from 11am-6pm. Tickets can be purchased here.
