Pleasant Hill woman identified as victim in Des Moines homicide
DES MOINES, Iowa — On Friday afternoon Des Moines Police released the name of the woman who died after suffering from blunt force trauma and other injuries.
At around 3 a.m. officers with the Des Moines Police Department responded to UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in the 1200 block of Pleasant Street on a report of a patient who was dropped off at the hospital suffering from blunt force trauma and other injuries. The victim, identified as 49-year-old Holly Hudson Snowgren of Pleasant Hill, died at the hospital.
Late Friday morning Des Moines Police arrested 60-year-old Derrick A. Earnest in connection to Snowgren’s death. Police said Earnest and Snowgren were in a domestic relationship. Evidence collected from the crime scene in the 1100 block of 14th Place in Des Moines showed Derrick assaulting Holly and, nearly an hour after the assault, driving her to the hospital, police said.
Earnest was booked into the Polk County Jail and charged with first degree murder.
