Movies at the Abbey: Summer of Soul
Movies and air conditioning are one of God’s greatest combinations, and luckily, Alberta Abbey has both. Drop by the nonprofit venue to cool off with Questlove-directed documentary Summer of Soul, which “reclaims the legacy” of the six-week 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival with rarely seen footage of performances by Nina Simone, B.B. King, Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, and Gladys Knight & the Pips. It might be one of the best concert films ever made? And tickets are five dollars?! Go get your groove on.
