Roasted coffee beans from Hugo Coffee Roasters, the “dog lover’s coffee,” can now be purchased at Harris Teeter grocery stores. Hugo is known for its ethically-sourced, artisan roasts and its charitable work to save animals.
Founder Claudia McMullin said that she is grateful to be teaming up with Harris Teeter, which supports her vision to leverage donations from her coffee company to support animal rescues and sanctuaries that save the lives of dogs, cats, and farm animals. “We are so excited to be partnering with Harris Teeter, and we look forward to working with them long term. Hugo Coffee Roasters, which is named for Claudia’s beloved rescue dog, started as a wholesale company, selling craft coffee to Utah companies, including universities and ski resorts. From there, they added an online store for direct-to-customer sales of popular products like their cold brew coffee bags and single-serving coffee bags, which offer fresh, barista-level coffee on demand without the need for grinders or coffee pots.
Now, Hugo Coffee Roasters products are available in Harris Teeter stores. Shoppers can pick up their favorite dog-themed roasts, including Bonafido Dark Roast and Roll Over Breakfast Blend.
After leaving her job as a Wall Street lawyer and running an animal rescue, Claudia started Hugo Coffee Roasters, combining her two great loves — dogs and extraordinary coffee. In her work to create delicious coffee that supports animal rescue, she has already donated $50,000. She continues to hold weekly, week-long online fundraisers on her website to benefit animal rescues and sanctuaries. Her coffee is also easy on the environment with organically-grown beans and sustainable roasting practices.
