City’s first eye doctor for pets opens new Midtown clinic
A new, state-of-the art Veterinary Eye Center of Manhattan
(VEC) specialty hospital has opened in Manhattan’s Midtown West neighborhood.
The new facility is New York City’s first veterinary center dedicated exclusively to ophthalmology services and provides specialty ophthalmology care and surgery for small animals
McAlpine Contracting served as the general contractor for
the complete renovation and interior fit-out of the 2,500 s/f street-level
clinic at 357 West 52nd Street.
According to McAlpine’s Executive Vice President John F.
Nolan, “The new clinic features elegant finishes, specialized medical systems
and equipment, and healthcare-type interior materials in treatment and
examination areas. To prepare the clinic for the opening, the construction team
has renovated the 1,600 s/f ground floor and 840 s/f partial basement of a
four-story residential building. A glass storefront spans the entire
street-facing width of the space, and a glass entrance vestibule leads to the
300-square foot reception area.”
Nightingale Veterinary Partners manages business operations of the new clinic. Crown Architecture and Consulting of Manhattan designed the project. Red Bear Tech Services, a veterinary clinic operations consultant, developed the procedure room layouts and specified treatment and support equipment. The project team also included mechanical engineer Yorkos Engineering and structural engineer Serman Engineering.
