Located north of TD Ameritrade Park on the first floor of the historic Ashton Building, this new tap room is in the new Millworks Commons food and beverage hall. Kros Strain Draft Works offers 30 taps of its locally brewed beer as well as cider from Glacial Till Vineyard. The tap room joins Kros Strain Brewing in La Vista as the second craft beer location Kros Strain Brewing.

What’s hot and new in the 402
This past year Omaha has seen dozens of new businesses open, proving that during difficult and uncertain times, our city is full of nimble and creative entrepreneurs. These savvy business owners are finding inventive ways to meet the wants and needs of our awesome city. We’ve compiled a list of the hottest and newest spots you need to know about in the Omaha metro area.
2. Lula B’s
New to the Captiol District, Lula B’s is the perfect brunch and breakfast bar. They serve up fresh Stories Coffee Co. with every meal. Yelp Elite Patrick W. says “They offer breakfast food, burgers, craft beer and cocktails. Not only that but they’re open late. My first visit today was nothing short of delicious. The South of the Border Burrito was was loaded with carne asada, potatoes, guac, and cheese with a side of tater tots… Somewhat surprising were the onion rings which we ordered as an appetizer and the tots both of which were the best I’ve ever had.”
3. Chlorophyll by Kinghorn Gardens
Chlorophyll recently planted itself in Aksarben Village, across from Inner Rail Food Hall. Inside this plant shop you’ll find everything from succulents to planters, soil, propagation tubes, gifts and decor. This Kinghorn Gardens sister store is a plant parent’s new best bud. Yelpers love that the staff is friendly and knowledgeable with tips and tricks for a newer audience.
Looking for a little taste of England? Welcome to Chippy’s Omaha; Nebraska’s only British Market & Bakery offering food and beverages both hot and cold, following traditional British recipes with imported ingredients from England. Whether it be pies, pasties, butties, jam tarts, the “99” (England’s oldest ice cream) or even Harry Potter’s Butterbeer from Hogsmeade, there’s something for everyone! Their market includes over 475 British imported foods and gifts for all occasions including all the favourites from Cadburys to Walkers.
Opened in February 2021, Omaha Dog Bar is a unique membership-based community for dogs and their humans in the historic Little Bohemia neighborhood – just south of downtown Omaha. It combines a professionally maintained indoor/outdoor bark park, with a bar and eatery where humans can work or socialize while their pups run, jump and play in a safe, monitored, and fun environment. Don’t have a pup, that’s okay, their is not charge to come join your friends and their fur kids while having a beer and bite.
The Committee Chophouse is an homage to the 1920’s, and captures the spirit and cheer of the original Blackstone Hotel’s private club. Located inside The Cottonwood Hotel, a reinvention of the historic Blackstone Hotel, the restaurant marks a return to the art of the chophouse. Enjoy tableside dishes, steaks cooked to perfection at 1,200 degrees, boozy martinis, and great conversation with familiar faces or new comrades.
8. Calabria Italian Restaurant
Located 30 minutes from the Metro, Calabria Italian Restaurant is located the Historic Train Depot of Nebraska City. This converted train station is beloved by the Yelpers who’ve reviewed this newer Italian Eatery. With generous portions, tasty cocktails, and ambiance that will leave you wanting more of everything.
9. Good Lookin’
The historic Dundee neighborhood has been home to some of Omaha’s most beloved businesses. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome a new brunch spot to the area. Located right on Underwood, you can find a breakfast dish for everyone. From their eggs benedict, to avocado toast, and breakfast cocktails, everything here is, well… really good lookin’.
10. Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza Grill
Wood-fired pizza, an outdoor patio, and a wine & beer self serve bracelet. What more could you want from a local pizza joint? Opened in the Spring of 2021, Smokin’ Oak is a great addition to Midtown Crossing. Yelpers note being able to enjoy pizza on the patio while listening to live music in Turner Park. Their menu is expansive when it comes to pizzas, but Yelpers really love that self-serve wine and beer key. Simply swipe your bracelet at one of their many self-serve taps to try an array of beverages from beer, wine and mixed cocktails. They also offer gluten-free options and personal pies.
