Industry gets behind city’s cultural reawakening

New York’s Real Estate and Construction Council is throwing
its weight behind the rebuilding of the city’s cultural landscape.

The group hosted the first in-person, live performance celebration at Lincoln Center since it was forced to cancel its programs and close its doors to the public last March.

Jonathan L. Mechanic, chairman of Fried Frank’s Real Estate
Department, co-chaired the Restart Lincoln Center Gala which featured a live
performance by acclaimed opera singer and Tony Award-winning Broadway star
Paulo Szot, and a curated menu designed by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson.

The benefit brought together over 150 people to raise
proceeds in support of Lincoln Center, whose loses during the COVID crisis ran
in the tens of million.

Mechanic, co-chairman of the Real Estate and Construction
Council, commented, “New York City’s identity is deeply rooted in its
extraordinary performing arts sector, which draws millions of tourists to visit
the city annually. The impact of the pandemic on New York City’s performing
arts, culture, and entertainment community has been felt worldwide. Supporting
this vibrant sector of our city is crucial to facilitating our successful
comeback and recovery.”
