The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 276 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, Oct. 30, increasing the cumulative total to 59,718 cases.

An estimated 3,046 cases have been recorded in the last 14 days, or 6.8 new cases per 100,000 residents.

The county reported seven news death from the coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,475.

Of the cumulative 1,475 deaths reported from the virus, 570 were skilled nursing facility residents, 118 were in assisted living facilities and five were listed as homeless.

The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:

  • 85 and older: 32% (81)
  • 75-84: 22% (320)
  • 65-74: 20% (290)
  • 55-64: 14% (205)

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials say.

It is estimated about 89% of the cumulative reported cases, or 53,265 people as of Friday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.

The county update reported 1,098,630 tests have been given for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 7,189 tests reported in the last 24 hours.

The county also reported 182 patients in hospitals with the coronavirus on Friday. The peak for hospitalizations in Orange County was 722 on July 14. There were 59 patients listed in ICUs in Friday’s report.
