Coronavirus state tracker: Hospitalizations in California continue to decline; 6,060 new cases and 144 new deaths reported as of Saturday

California reported 6,956 hospitalizations, 321 fewer than Friday, bringing the total number of hospitalizations in the state below 7,000 for the first time since early July, as of Saturday. This marks the fourth day in a row that hospitalizations have been down.

California had 6,060 new cases and 144 new deaths bringing the number of total cases to 554,048 and deaths to 10,315, according to unofficial counts from county websites on Saturday.

The state’s breakdown of cases by age is as follows:

  • 5 and younger: 2% (10,730)
  • 5-17: 7.3% (39,463)
  • 18-34: 35.4% (190,428)
  • 35-49: 25% (134,855)
  • 50-59: 14% (75,559)
  • 60-64: 5.1% (27,382)
  • 65-69: 3.5% (18,852)
  • 70-74: 2.4% (13,144)
  • 75-79: 1.7% (9,1314)
  • 80 and older: 3.4% (18,152)

The state’s breakdown of deaths by age group is as follows:

  • 5 and younger: 0% (0)
  • 5-17: 0% (1)
  • 18-34: 1.5% (146)
  • 35-49: 5.8% (568)
  • 50-59: 10% (976)
  • 60-64: 8% (782)
  • 65-69: 9.8% (965)
  • 70-74: 11.3% (1,105)
  • 75-79: 11.7% (1,111)
  • 80 and older: 42.3% (4,152)
