‘Extensive damage’ hampers Metro-North services in CT

Many Metro-North Railroad services remain down Thursday morning as crews repair “extensive damage” to the railway’s infrastructure from Tropical Storm Isaias.

Metro-North New Haven Line will operate on a weekend service schedule between Stamford and Grand Central. There will be no service between Stamford and New Haven, however.

The railroad company’s Danbury Branch will remain suspended Thursday, officials said, as crews repair the line.

Additionally, Metro-North will operate substitute busing from the New Canaan and Waterbury Branches.

“Expect delays due to road closures and detours,” officials said. “Stay tuned for updates.”

To help customers, Metro-North announced Thursday it will cross-honor tickets and waive on-board fare across Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines.
