Orange police search for man who assaulted women walking in Santiago Creek area

Orange police on Tuesday, August 4 released a composite sketch of a man who they believe has assaulted women walking in the Santiago Creek on at least three occasions.

The first was at about 4:10 p.m. of July 25 on the Santiago Creek trail near Tustin Street and La Veta Avenue, said Sgt. Phil McMullin.  A woman was when a male grabbed her and pushed her into an alcove. She broke free and the suspect fled on a bicycle, police said.

The other two incidents were on Sunday, August 2. The first, at 6:15 p.m, happened when a woman walking in the creek bed near Spring Street was grabbed on the arm by the male suspect as he was unzipping his pants, police said. She pulled away and screamed as he rode off on a bicycle, McMullin said.

About 15 minutes later the same suspect approached another female walking at the park entrance near the dead end of Walnut Avenue and grabbed her buttocks before again fleeing on a bicycle.

The suspect was described as a man in his 40s with black hair and brown eyes. He spoke in English and Spanish during the encounters, McMullin said, though would not elaborate on what the man said.

None of the victims had any injuries after the encounters, police said.

Anyone who sees him is asked to not approach him but instead call 911. Those with information about the suspect or incidents are asked to call investigators at 714-744-7521.
