While the feds seem to have finally vacated the premises, that doesn’t mean the protest actions need to lessen in response. And this weekend provides plenty of opportunities to exercise your First Amendment rights, through organized discussions about how best to dismantle racist power structures, and via in-person gatherings and marches against police brutality, white supremacy, and our constitution-defying federal government.

A Vigil for Shai’India Harris
Celebrate Shai’India Harris’ life by joining this candlelight vigil at Peninsula Park, beginning at 8 pm. Attendees are asked to wear a mask, bring friends, bring flowers, and be ready to demand justice. ASL interpretation offered.

Unemployed Workers for Black Lives Matter
The CARES Act expires today, the rent is due, and all unemployed workers in Portland are asked to gather at Salmon Street before marching to the Justice Center in an act of solidarity with racial justice movements. Speakers will talk to the assembly starting at 8 pm. Protest gear for frontline protesters, and BIPOC attendees will be prioritized.
