Coronavirus State Tracker: California reported 5,507 new cases and 23 new deaths as of July 26

California had at least 5,507 new cases of the coronavirus and 23 new deaths reported as of Sunday, July 26, according to unofficial counts from county websites. Many counties did not report their numbers Sunday.

That raises the state’s total cases to 450,799 since reporting began, and 8,447 people have died.

For the second consecutive day, the state state reported fewer patients (122), lowering the total number of people hospitalized to 8,327.

The state’s breakdown of cases by age is as follows:

    • 5 and younger: 1.9% (8,7250)
    • 5-17: 7% (31,682)
    • 18-34: 35.3% (160,056)
    • 35-49: 25.1% (113,981)
    • 50-59: 14.2% (64,200)
    • 60-64: 5.1% (23,294)
    • 65-69: 3.6% (16,143)
    • 70-74: 2.5% (11,306)
    • 75-79: 1.7% (7,848)
    • 80 and older: 3.5% (15,893)

The state’s breakdown of deaths by age group is as follows:

  • 5 and younger: 0% (0)
  • 5-17: 0% (0)
  • 18-34: 1.3% (106)
  • 35-49: 5.7% (474)
  • 50-59: 9.9% (828)
  • 60-64: 7.6% (635)
  • 65-69: 9.7% (811)
  • 70-74: 11.1% (927)
  • 75-79: 11.5% (960)
  • 80 and older: 43.6% (3,641)
