Outlet Connected to Switch – Extra Hot Wire

I’ve searched everywhere and can’t find anything.

I have a couple outlets connected to a light switch to control a floor lamp. The top outlet is powered by a light switch and the bottom outlet is always powered (tab broken).

Each of them have 2 hot wires, 2 neutral wires, 1 ground wire, and 1 traveler wire. All outlets had 2 push in connections on top and bottom, on each side (8 push in connections). And 2 brass, 2 silver screws. The traveler wire was pushed in at the top, the 2 hot pushed in at the bottom.

New outlets have 1 push in connections at top and bottom of each side (4 push in) but I’m using screws for all wiring.

What do I do with the extra hot wire? Can I just screw 2 hot wires to bottom screw and traveler wire to top screw? Should I leave it off and put a wire nut on it? Would rather not have a loose hot wire in box.
