So I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel. I have painted a dozen or so cabinet doors In the past with no issues. I have alway used water based primer. The new cabinet doors have an mdf insert and the water based primer is raising the grain making the panel textured. Never had this before.

So my question is can I sand the texture smooth re-coat with oil base primer. Then do a water based top coat (emeral urethane).
