Spurs Star Rudy Gay Sells Florida Mansion to NFL Star Rodney Hudson

Last fall, San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay placed his luxurious Southwest Ranches, FL, home on the market for $3,475,000.

But who on earth would need an 8,000-square-foot, single-story home with a giant closet for a sneaker collection, a living room big enough to easily fit a pool table, and a regulation basketball court on its spacious 2.35 acres?

NFL star Rodney Hudson, that’s who. The Oakland Raiders center, who signed a three-year, $33.75 million contract in August 2019, was clearly looking to celebrate his new deal with a little retail therapy.

Now, he’s the newest owner of this tricked-out slice of paradise, which he purchased for $3.1 million last month.

“I think he was focused on the neighborhood,” says listing agent Benjamin Moss of Hudson’s decision to buy. “He’s been in there before. He knew the area,” Moss said of Hudson, who attended Florida State.

Moss also pointed out that the star-studded, gated neighborhood offers plenty of privacy and sweet value compared with the higher prices in Miami. He noted that A-lister Dwayne Johnson recently sold a home in the area.

Gay, who is known for his panache as a player, went all out on the home’s interiors before handing over the keys to a fellow baller. He purchased the place in 2014 for $2,130,000, and then brought in an interior designer to spruce the place up.

In fact, the sale was a “package deal,” Moss says, with most of the furnishings included in the price—just not the sneaker collection or the giant pool table featured in the living room. Those treasures left with the basketball player.

Hudson, 30, will enjoy six ensuite bedrooms, an office, and a huge master suite with dual baths, a sitting area, and a gym. The kitchen includes high-end finishes and stainless steel appliances.

In addition, the deluxe space has a lounge with a bar, a family room, two wood-burning fireplaces, and eye-popping luxury finishes that make this a showcase property.

Outside includes a heated pool, ample covered seating areas for entertaining, and a four-car garage.
