I was all set to apply weatherstripping and caulk to my windows and doors for the winter when I came across this: https://www.energyvanguard.com/blog/winterizing-your-home-dont-caulk-the-windows

If I understand the author correctly, then her argument is that weatherstripping and caulking are relatively ineffective due to:

1. Larger gaps throughout the house that likely leak far more air
2. Differences in pressure such that covering up a few small leaks just leads to increased rate of loss somewhere else

All other sites I found, however, highly recommend sealing windows and doors. Is there any truth to what this site claims (or am I just misinterpreting it)?
