thermo-powered fan for gas wall heater

So I’ve got this wall mounted, ventless gas heater in my cottage for heat this winter. I wanted to distribute the heat better but the fan motor used for it is no longer being produced. So why not try and make a DIY fan? In fact, maybe we could make one using only thermo generated electricity?

Here’s the heater itself: https://imgur.com/a/32jlIRT

The dark rectangle around the flame is iron i think? It gets very hot; hot enough to burn your hand. The lighter metal housing is aluminum or steel and isn’t very hot at all. Just slightly warm to the touch.

So my idea is to place a Peltier plate on the top of the black surface and the run wire to a 12V cpu fan, mounted to the top of the housing. So as the heat rises from the flame, the fan will blow and distribute the hot air just above.

A more easy solution could have been to just buy a $50 wood stove fan like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0171A42S2

But there isn’t really enough space in the cavity to mount it directly, and I’ll need to reattach the face of the housing when it’s all done for safety reasons (it is an open flame after all).

Do I still need a heat sink for the peltier if the fan is detached? Will the peltier just melt/burn if directly attached with thermopaste, clamp, jb weld, etc?
