Why We’re Adding This Trendy Pattern to Every Room
Lately I’ve been noting one pattern all over the place: the simple, clean-lined grid. Everywhere I turn, it seems like windowpane-like squares with impossibly thin lines are inching onto table linens and napkins, throw pillows and comforters, even glassware, in black and white and other duo-tone palettes, too. Sometimes the patterning is as neat and tidy as old-school graph paper; other times, it looks like it’s been hand-drawn. Always, it’s subtle enough to fit in all sorts of rooms (even amidst other patterns—it looks great alongside florals), but graphic enough to add geometric appeal.
Consider the grid a stripped-down version of the previously trendy buffalo check. It’s more sophisticated than gingham, more modern than houndstooth, and more minimalist than plaid—but every bit as cozy as all of them.
