Paul Manafort Sells Florida Home to Wife for $10—It’s Now Up for Rent for $14K a Month

A Florida home formerly owned by Paul Manafort is now available for rent. The disgraced political consultant sold it to his wife, Kathleen, for $10 while in prison. The Palm Beach Gardens, FL, residence can now be leased for 1,400 times its purchase price—or $14,000—a month.

The former Trump campaign chairman is currently behind bars for federal financial crimes brought against him during Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation.

As part of a plea deal with the government, the 70-year-old operative agreed to forfeit a massive property portfolio in New York, including a Brooklyn brownstone, a home in the Hamptons, a SoHo loft, and a Trump Tower condo.

However, the deal seemed to set aside a Florida residence as part of an apparent homestead exemption. Manafort had been registered to vote at the address since 2011, according to the Palm Beach Daily.

Perhaps to further ensure his wife could keep the home, Manafort transferred the property deed over to her for the nominal sum of $10, Forbes reported.

The transaction was made last fall in his Virginia prison and “witnessed by two members of his legal team and stamped with the seal of a Virginia notary, was filed five days later with the Palm Beach County Clerk,” the publication added.

However, the lobbyist was then accused of violating his plea agreement by lying to federal investigators last year, throwing into doubt whether the home would remain with his family, even though it’s technically no longer his.

For now, property records show the property is in Kathleen Manafort’s name.

The couple bought the 4,034-square-foot home in 2007 for $1.5 million. The Mediterranean-style abode is located about 15 miles from President Donald Trump’s newly established permanent residence of Mar-a-Lago.

The renovated space includes a living room, formal dining room, family room, and open kitchen. In addition, the layout includes an office, media room, and access to the outdoors.

The master suite also opens to the outside, and includes a sitting area and a master bath with separate tub and dual sinks.

Outside, a screened-in dining area opens to a pool, spa, and lounge area.

Another property once owned by Paul Manafort came on the market in September. The luxury condo in an Alexandria, VA, high-rise, which had gone into foreclosure, was the infamous site of the “no knock” FBI raid, in July 2017.  Documents belonging to Manafort were seized as part of the Mueller investigation. That property is currently off-market.

The longtime Republican Party campaign consultant chaired the Trump presidential campaign in 2016, before being replaced by Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway. He is set to be released from prison in 2024.
