We moved into a house that has steel exterior French doors with plastic grills to simulate individual pieces of glass. The grills look like crap. I watched a YouTube where a guy replaced the entire glass units with ones that have no dividing grill, which looks fine but is kind of expensive and wasteful. It looks like you could remove the plastic grills and replace the surrounds with wooden molding, or replace the plastic grill with a plastic surround that doesn’t have the grill design, but I haven’t found any reference to either.

Has anyone replaced plastic grills on French doors?
