How to go about EQing this frequency response? (with pics)

Here is an example of my front speakers frequency response (Sub off. tweeters and mids are on active crossover @ 3.5 kHz).

As you can see, the 100-300Hz range of my midrange speakers is much lower than the 400Hz-3.5kHz range. So do I EQ the 400Hz-3.5kHz range DOWN to this level, with the target curve like so?:

Or do I place the target curve at more of an “average” before EQing:

Ignore the fact that the tweeter frequency range is under the curve in the second example– I originally set the pre-EQing tweeter level to work with the first method I described, and if i raise the overall target curve level I will adjust the overall levels of the tweeters accordingly and retake my measurements.

The first way of doing it did result in a decent response:

However, I’m just curious where most more-experience people would set that target curve.
