Covering a fireplace, want to toss out my idea to see if it’s even feasible.

Moving into my fiance’s home and it has a red brick fireplace seen here. and I think because the room (and yes, the paint I picked) are so dark, if I could cover it with like, wainscoting or something it would brighten it up a bit. Trouble is, I don’t want to do anything permanent to the fireplace.

Is it possible to put up some kind of track, maybe that quarter round stuff or similar, along the ceiling and somehow on the floor around the fireplace to act like a track that I could slide the boards into around the brick? I’m having a hard time even articulating this idea but it would be as if the covering is attached to the brick but not. I still want it to be a fireplace, not cover it up like a wall. Here’s a hilarious MS paint rendition I made. Basically, I want to slide in the sides and front boards over the fireplace somehow. I don’t know things but I’m willing to try.

I don’t want to paint because that would be a permanent change and is trendy so when we move it might be a problem. I did look up using sidewalk chalk to add that whitewash look but then read about people struggling to get their children’s drawings off of their brick houses. Not a good plan.

Any other ideas and advice are more than welcome.

Thanks in advance!
