Idea of glueing split jams together [Advice]
So in a previous post, I had found out all of the doors in my house were held in place by trim (no shims) and you guys/gals offered plenty of help figuring out what went on. So since most of the hollow core doors have holes in them (thanks to previous owners) and I’m going to be replacing them. The door jamb/casing is fine but it’s a split jamb, and since I can get slabs loads cheaper I plan on keeping the jambs.
Since I’ll be installing these myself I planned on using the brackets instead of shims. Would glueing (standard wood glue) and clamping the two pieces of the split jamb together be enough to make it equivalent to a single piece in terms of strength over time?
Also, I plan on screwing at least one side into a stud (with shims) in a few spots to give it some structural integrity other than 6 little thin brackets.
