Police searching for man accused of fatally shooting Stratford man Friday

BRIDGEPORT — A Bridgeport man is accused of shooting and killing the boyfriend of his children’s mother, according to a city official.

Police are still searching for the man, who was identified as Miguel Rojas, 28 of Bridgeport.

Police went to the area of West Avenue and West Liberty Street around 9:20 p.m. Friday for a call of shots fired. There, they found Stratford resident Jalen Parilla, 37, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Scott Appleby, director of the city’s Office of Emergency Management.

Parilla was taken to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he died a short time later, Appleby said.

Witnesses told police that Rojas shot Parilla, Appleby said.

Detectives are currently searching for Rojas. He was last seen driving a 2018 Honda Accord with Connecticut tags “AR78215,” Appleby said.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS (8477).
