Stranger Things pop-up opens at 5 Times Square

Netflix has opened its pop-up Stranger Things  store at RXR Realty’s 5 Times Square, the Class-A
office building with retail at its base located on 42nd Street and 7th Avenue.

The store occupies 5,377 s/f on the ground and 5,226 s/f on
the 2nd floor fronting 42nd Street. Netflix was represented by Joshua Strauss
and Scott Zinovoy of Newmark. Strauss and Zinovoy along with Karen Bellantoni represented
the agency team on the leasing of 5 Times Square.

The store is one of two Netflix has launched. The other is
located at The Americana at Brand in Glendale, California.

“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to let Stranger Things fans see themselves more in the show they love,” said Greg Lombardo, Head of Experiences at Netflix. “This first-ever Stranger Things store sends them right into the heart of Hawkins, in a truly immersive retail experience, totally stoked with 80’s vibes and the chance to take home a piece of their favorite show with unique merchandise that isn’t available anywhere else.”

The show is one of the most popular in Netflix history

RXR, which bought the tower in partnership with investor
David Werner for $1.5 billion in 2014, last year refinanced the property with a
$1.345 billion package from Morgan Stanley and affiliates of SL Green Realty
Corp.

An ultra-modern Class-A office building located in the core
of Midtown Manhattan consisting of 39 stories and 1.16 million total square
feet, it served as the headquarters of accounting giant Ernst & Young,
which is relocating to Manhattan West next year.

RXR is in the throes of a $50 million effort to enhance the
tower with a new elevator connection to the subway station below, new exterior
signage, redesigned lobby, and tenant amenity center.

Red Lobster currently occupies the ground and second floor retail
space with an entrance on the corner of 41st and 7th. The building has 10,726 s/f
of vacant retail on the ground floor and 10,286 s/f on the second floor.

Stranger Things is a science fiction horror drama television
series set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana in the early-to-mid 1980s
that has become one of the most popular shows in Netflix history.
